Maruti Celerio gets six airbags as standard, accompanied by a price hike
Maruti Suzuki has enhanced the safety features of the Celerio by equipping all variants with six airbags as standard. This update, however, comes with a price revision, with increases of up to Rs. 32,500 across different trims.
Enhanced Safety
Previously, the Celerio came with two airbags as standard, with higher trims offering additional safety features. With this latest update, Maruti Suzuki has prioritised passenger safety by making six airbags a universal feature in the model lineup. This move aligns with the growing focus on safety in the small car segment, and similar upgrades could be expected in more models from the brand in the near future.
Revised Pricing Across Variants
The introduction of these safety enhancements has resulted in a price hike across the Celerio range. The top-end ZXi+ variants witness the highest increase, with prices going up by Rs. 32,500/-. The LXi MT, which serves as the entry-level variant, is now costlier by Rs. 27,500/-. Meanwhile, the VXi trims see an increment of up to Rs. 21,000/-, while the CNG-powered VXi CNG MT variant experiences a relatively lower hike of Rs. 16,000/-. Notably, the ZXi AMT variant remains unaffected by the price adjustments.
Updated Price Range
With these revisions, the new price structure for the Maruti Suzuki Celerio starts at Rs. 5.64 lakhs (ex-showroom) for the base LXi variant and goes up to Rs. 7.37 lakhs (ex-showroom) for the top-tier trim. While the cost increase may impact budget-conscious buyers, the inclusion of enhanced safety measures makes the Celerio a more secure choice in its segment.
Maruti Suzuki’s decision to offer six airbags as standard demonstrates a proactive approach toward improving vehicle safety, a crucial factor as government regulations and consumer expectations continue to evolve.
