Mahindra XUV700 Ebony Edition launched with a dark-themed exterior and interior
Mahindra has launched the XUV700 Ebony Edition in India, with prices beginning at Rs. 19.64 lakhs and up to Rs. 24.14 lakhs (ex-showroom). This latest generation of the popular SUV takes a unique approach to the 'dark edition' motif, combining contrasting design components rather than going all-black. According to Mahindra, client feedback drove the development of the Ebony Edition.
Pricing and Availability
The Ebony Edition is based on the XUV700's top-tier AX7 and AX7 L variants and has a Rs. 15,000/- premium over the normal models. The SUV retains the same powertrain options, including a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine with 200 horsepower and a 2.2-litre diesel engine with 185 horsepower. Both engine types are offered with 6-speed manual and automated transmissions. However, the Ebony Edition is only available in front-wheel drive and with seven seats.
Design and Exterior Updates
The XUV700 Ebony Edition features a new black paint finish called Stealth Black, which is matched by blacked-out 18-inch alloy wheels that retain the standard model's styling. It also has Ebony badges on the front fenders and tailgate. To break the all-black concept, Mahindra has added silver-finished bash plates to the front and rear bumpers, adding visual contrast. With this update, the XUV700 series now has eight monotone color options and five dual-tone exterior treatments.
Interior and Features
The Ebony Edition's interior retains the gloomy theme, with black leatherette upholstery and white stitching. The dashboard and door trims are in a dark color scheme, with contrasting silver accents on the steering wheel, dashboard, and gear console for visual flair. One of the most distinguishing features is the light grey roof liner, which contrasts sharply with the otherwise dark inside.
The Ebony Edition shares the same feature set as the AX7 and AX7 L versions. The AX7 model offers Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), a 6-way power driver's seat with memory function, automatic headlights and wipers, and dual-zone climate control. The AX7 L variant adds a blind spot monitor, a 360-degree camera, a knee airbag (increasing the total to seven airbags), an electronic parking brake, a 12-speaker sound system, heated front seats, and sequential rear LED turn indicators.
Safety Updates Across the XUV700 Range
Mahindra has added a new safety feature to the whole XUV700 lineup: a rear seat belt reminder. The manufacturer has also stated that this will be the final update for the XUV700, while more specifics on any future revisions are unknown.
