Ferrari 849 Testarossa Unveiled Globally, Produces 25 Kg More Downforce Than SF90 Stradale

The Ferrari 849 Testarossa debuts as the successor to the SF90, presenting itself as an evolutionary leap. Subtle refinements enhance performance without reinventing the formula, as applied by Ferrari. Underneath the aggressive new design, Ferrari maintains a sharpened SF90 at heart.

Styling

The design divides opinion yet reveals clear Ferrari DNA. Influences encompass the F80, Daytona, and even echo the classic 308. A double-tiered front, aero flicks, and vortex generators emphasise function while creating an aggressive face.

From the side, sculpted channels guide airflow into enlarged intercoolers, handling increased heat from higher output. Cooling capacity is 15% greater. Downforce has also improved, reaching 415kg at 250 km/hr, 25kg more than the SF90 achieved.

The rear is the boldest change. Pontoon-like arches feed into twin static winglets, paired with an active central aero section. Twin Inconel exhausts and complex venturi tunnels create a purposeful, striking stance.

Engine & Performance

The powertrain continues its journey with a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 paired with three electric motors. Two motors power the front wheels, offering torque vectoring, while the third supports the rear axle. Combined, the system produces over 1000 HP, though the electric contribution remains capped at 217 HP.

Ferrari increased output by 50 HP through engineering tweaks. Bigger turbos, revised cylinder heads, upgraded intercoolers, and titanium fastenings aid efficiency. Clever weight savings ensure the Testarossa does not weigh more than the SF90.

The performance figures stagger. The 849 accelerates from 0 to 100 km/hr in 2.25 seconds! . At Fiorano, it laps 1.5 seconds faster than the SF90, nearly matching the hardcore SF90 XX.

Electric Assistance

Despite its hypercar pace, Ferrari insists on everyday usability. The Testarossa offers 25km of pure-electric range for urban driving. Multiple driving modes and advanced systems, including Side Slip Control 9.0 and ABS Evo, provide balance between safety and excitement.

Outlook

The Ferrari 849 Testarossa sharpens the SF90 formula with greater performance, striking design, and refined usability. It is faster, lighter, and more confident. This is Ferrari’s clearest evolution of its hybrid hypercar strategy.
