Even more than six months after its premiere in August 2024, the Mahindra Thar Roxx remains popular among Indian purchasers. To meet demand, Mahindra increased Thar and Thar Roxx production in February, with over 9,000 units of both SUVs now rolling off the assembly line per month in a 30:70 ratio. This has helped to cut wait times for most Thar Roxx variants, however delivery times for other trims have remained the same or even grown.

Mahindra Thar Roxx variant-wise waiting period
Waiting times for the top-spec Thar Roxx AX7L 4x4 models, which are available in diesel-manual and diesel-automatic configurations and cost between Rs 21.59 lakh and Rs 23.09 lakh, have been reduced to 12 months, a 6-month reduction from delivery times in February. However, the base-spec Thar Roxx MX1 - which is available in petrol and diesel manual versions and costs between Rs 12.99 lakh and Rs 13.99 lakh - still has a waiting period of up to 18 months.
Buyers of the mid-spec MX3 (Rs 14.99 lakh-17.49 lakh), AX3L (Rs 16.99 lakh), MX5 (Rs 16.49 lakh-19.09 lakh), and AX5L (Rs 18.99 lakh-21.09 lakh) trims will have to wait up to 4 months for delivery, while the Thar Roxx AX7L 4x2 (Rs 19.49 lakh-20.99 lakh) and MX5 diesel-manual 4x4 trims will take up to ten months.

Mahindra Thar variant-wise waiting period
The Thar 3-door 4WD Convertible Hard Top model has a waiting period of up to 9 months, which is a 4-month increase from February delivery times. Waiting periods for the 4WD Hard Top petrol and diesel trims can last up to three months, and the same is true for the RWD Hard Top diesel. Buyers of the Thar Hard Top petrol in RWD form will have to wait the least, little over two months for delivery.

The Mahindra Thar series presently costs between Rs 11.50 lakh and Rs 17.60 lakh. It has the same 6-speed manual and torque converter automatic gearboxes as the Roxx, as well as the 2.0-litre direct-injection turbo-petrol engine and 2.2-litre diesel engine, albeit in lower tune. The 3-door model also offers an entry-level 1.5-litre diesel engine as an option, although only in manual transmission.
