The TVS Apache line sold more over 4 lakh units in the first 11 months of FY2025, surpassing this figure for the second time since FY2019. Because of the strong sales in the current fiscal year, the Apache series is the best-selling TVS motorbike and the market leader in the 150-200cc sector, with a 40% share.

TVS Motor Co. is having a solid FY2025, with total 11-month two-wheeler wholesale sales of 3.22 million units - including scooters, motorcycles, and mopeds - up 11% YoY (April 2023-February 2024). While TVS scooter sales are up 24% year on year, accounting for 51% of the market, motorcycle sales are down 2% year on year, accounting for 34%. The simple TVS moped remains in high demand, with sales rising 6% year on year and accounting for 14.48 percent of total two-wheeler sales.
TVS Apache’s current market share and previous figures
Without the TVS Apache series' strong market performance in the 150-200cc segment, TVS' motorcycle segment market performance would have declined by more than 2% between April 2024 and February 2025.
For the second time in its 20-year history, the TVS Apache brand has sold more over 4 lakh units in this sector. It fell 965 units short of the target for FY2018 (3,99,035 units).
Sales were hampered in succeeding fiscal years, mostly due to reduced demand caused by the Covid-19 epidemic. With March 2025 wholesales yet to be counted, TVS is expected to sell roughly 4.40 lakh-4.45 lakh Apaches in FY2025, albeit this figure will still be lower than the record FY2019 total.
Nonetheless, the TVS Apache remains the company's best-selling motorcycle in FY2025. With nearly 4 lakh units sold in the first 11 months of this fiscal year (up 17%), it now accounts for 36% of TVS' total motorbike sales, overtaking the TVS Raider. In FY2024, the Raider was TVS' best-selling motorcycle, with almost 4.7 lakh units sold, compared to the Apache's 3.7 lakh.
With over 4 lakh units sold, the TVS Apache line accounts for 40 percent of total segment sales, followed by India Yamaha Motor. The following four OEMs - Bajaj Auto, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India, Hero MotoCorp, and Suzuki Motorcycle India - have all witnessed YoY sales declines, according to SIAM data.
Are 150-200cc motorcycle buyers migrating?
The 150-200cc premium commuter segment, the third largest in the overall motorcycle market, is under pressure from both the 125-150cc category and the classes above it. The 125-150cc bike segment has grown by 40 percent, indicating a shift toward more fuel-efficient alternatives as purchasers prioritize price over performance.
However, the Union Budget's promise of higher disposable income may change this tendency. Meanwhile, the 200-250cc (up 16%) and 250-350cc (up 4%) categories are gaining traction. This is most likely due to purchasers transitioning from the 150-200cc sector to more premium, feature-rich alternatives.
