The Ather 450 Apex is the most evolved and advanced version of the 450X. We recently got to experience it in its 2025 avatar with new features that are a part of the Ather Stack 7.0 update.
Ather 450X Apex styling and design - 9/10
The orange and blue colour scheme surely makes the scooter stand out in a crowd
The Ather 450 Apex looks familiar yet fresh. It retains the compact, sharp silhouette of the 450X, but gets a few distinct elements that set it apart. The orange wheels and transparent side panels are an especially neat touch, with the latter revealing the bright orange trellis frame underneath. It gives the scooter a technical, concept-like vibe.
This year also marks 10 years of the Ather brand, so the scooter is sporting 10-year anniversary stickers, making it a special edition. The Indium Blue paint scheme is surely a head turner and gives it a unique and premium look and feel.

Ather 450X Apex performance - 8/10
Very impressive acceleration with the Warp+ ride mode
The Ather 450 has always been known for its zippy throttle response, but the Apex takes it up a notch. It gets a Warp+ mode, which is a reworked version of the 450X’s performance map that delivers quicker torque response and a sharper top end.
The power delivery is instant but smooth, and it feels eager even at higher speeds when you want to overtake. What’s impressive is how linear and predictable the throttle feels despite it accelerating quickly. The accelerator calibration is really good, and there’s no jerkiness. So it feels equally at home wading through traffic or cruising on open roads.
| Battery and charging time | |
|---|---|
| Battery capacity | 3.7kWh |
| Claimed IDC range | 157km |
| Charging time (0-80%) | 4hr30min |
In our performance tests, we achieved a 0-40kph sprint in 2.9 seconds, which is exactly the same as the claimed acceleration time, and the scooter was very impressive in the run to 80kph, taking just 11.59 seconds. In comparison, the Ather 450X Gen3 took 16.66 seconds to 80kph in our tests, making the Apex almost 4.5 seconds quicker. This is the difference between Warp on the 450X and Warp+ on the 450 Apex. That said, the riding range drops much quicker if you are going to keep Warp+mode engaged. In the other modes, the acceleration times and performance are similar to the 450X.

Ather 450X Apex features - 9/10
Interesting updates that enhance the usability of the scooter
As part of the Ather Stack 7.0 update, the scooter received some major updates to make the ride experience even smarter, convenient and more engaging. This update introduces Infinite Cruise, a system that lets you maintain speed and control with minimal throttle input. Unlike traditional cruise control that’s designed for highways, Ather’s take on it is designed for the real world, where we encounter chaotic, stop-and-go traffic.
| Suspension, tyres and brakes | |
|---|---|
| Suspension (F/R) | Telescopic fork / Monoshock |
| Tyres (F/R) | 90/90-12 / 100/80-12 |
| Brakes (F/R) | 200mm disc / 190mm disc |
There are three functionalities to this feature, and they all work via just one button. ‘City Cruise’ holds a steady pace in traffic, automatically pausing when you brake and then resuming at the new speed you have achieved once you twist the accelerator again. ‘Hill Control’ maintains consistent speed on inclines and descents, using regenerative braking to slow you down without constant throttle modulation. Then there’s Crawl Control, which lets you cruise as slow as 10kph. The scooter will engage any of these three based on the riding situation when cruise control is activated. To do so, a rider has to press the reverse button (it doubles as the cruise control once the scooter is on the go), and the feature can be activated between 10kph and 90kph.
The system works remarkably well in our traffic, as you don’t have to keep resuming at the previously set speed. Instead, the system locks onto the particular speed you have achieved once you hold the accelerator steady for a second or two and holds on to that speed. The best part is that this is a software addition, and Ather is pushing it out as an over-the-air (OTA) update to ensure existing Apex owners get the same next-gen functionality.
There were never moments where this feature hesitated, stuttered or felt unsafe. Along with this, you can also use Ather’s ‘Magic Twist’ regen feature to slow down by reverse twisting the accelerator, and it works well unless you’re in an emergency situation. However, there’s no ABS, so the rear locks up easily under hard braking, increasing the distance to come to a halt.
There are also other updates that we saw in the latest generation of the 450X, which include three traction control modes, a new UI for the TFT touchscreen and voice-assist features.
Ather 450X Apex verdict - 8/10
A premium offering, but worth the hype
Apart from being the fastest electric scooter Ather Energy has built, the 450 Apex now also offers intelligent, rider-focused tech. The 2025 Ather 450 Apex has a price tag of Rs 1.90 lakh (ex-showroom), making it an expensive, unique and premium offering; but if you buy one, you will have bragging rights. It is out of reach for many and not even going to be considered practical for the average Indian consumer, but something that will surely be valued by enthusiasts.
