Marc Marquez won both races at the 2025 Argentina MotoGP event, bringing his total to 90 victories, matching the late Angel Nieto for the most wins across all classes. And, as with the season opener, his younger brother Alex was just behind him in second place. With a third-place result in the main race, VR46 Ducati's Franco Morbidelli returns to the podium after nearly four years of injury.

Marquez brothers dominate
Marc Marquez's dominance over the 2025 MotoGP season continues, as he extends his winning run to the second round. Unlike in the Thai round, where he walked over the rest of the field, his younger brother Alex did cause him some trouble for a few laps during the main race. Marc eventually overtook him with five laps remaining, and both the Marquez brothers finished first and second.
Francesco Bagnaia, Marc's partner, has struggled to match the Marquez brothers' pace for two rounds in a row. Following a fourth-place result in the main race, he trails championship leader Marc Marquez by 31 points.
Strong weekend for VR46 Ducati squad
After 71 races and 1,414 days, Morbidelli returned to the podium on his Ducati GP24 motorcycle. Morbidelli was one of the few riders who chose the soft rear tyre, and despite this, he was able to hold off a hard-charging Bagnaia in the closing stages of the race to secure the final podium spot.
His teammate, Fabio Di Giannantonio, finished fifth after overtaking Johann Zarco of LCR Honda on the last lap.
Honda making steady progress
With Zarco finishing sixth and Joan Mir and Luca Marini taking the chequered flag in ninth and tenth place, it is safe to say that Honda has emerged from the doldrums and is steadily moving toward the front of the MotoGP field. Zarco was bothering Bagnaia in the early stages of the race, both riding comfortably inside the top five, but he couldn't keep it going due to the Ducati's superior peak speed over the Honda.
Ogura disqualified from Argentina GP
While rookie Ai Ogura made an impressive debut in the Thai MotoGP race, the Argentina round was a little more subdued. Ogura's crash in Q1 forced him to start in 15th place, but despite his low grid position, he finished eighth. However, when the rookie's Trackhouse Aprilia was discovered to be running software that was not homologated by the Championship, his result was nullified.
2025 MotoGP standings
MotoGP will now travel to the Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas, from March 28 to March 31. Marc Marquez leads the standings by a huge 16 points over his younger brother Alex. Bagnaia comes in third place behind the Marquez twins, followed by the resurgent Morbidelli.
